A family who already has a PlayStation 3 may want some games which are suitable for younger children. The best games available, which are recommended by children or their parents, are listed in this article but there are precious few PS3 games for younger players.

These games can be bought with or with out 4 buzzers. They are intended to be played by a group of people together and are ideal for a family because they are enjoyable for old as well as young.

PlayStation 3 Games Suitable for Preschoolers & Children of All Ages
EyePet ™ by Sony is available in Europe and soon to be released in the US. In this game one nurtures a pet from it earliest life, as an egg. Even the youngest video game player should be able to have fun with this, there are many activities to do to look after the pet and games to play.
Flower is a game for people of all ages but not a typical game. The player controls the wind and is able to explore an interactive world.
More PlayStation Games for Younger Children
A common complaint about family games for PlayStation 3 is that despite being for children they are simply too difficult for young children of about 5 years of age, two such games would be Cars: Mater-National Championship and Ratatouille. Three games which have been given the thumbs up by families with children aged 4 or 5 and are all based on movies:
- Cars Race O Rama
- Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
- G-Force
PlayStation Kids' Games for Children Aged 7, 8 or 9
Older children will be better able to enjoy the games which are universally suitable for anyone. The two games which receive great recommendations are
- Little Big Planet, a cooperative game for the family
- ModNation Racers, a kart racing game
A child of about 8 or 9 may be able to play these but they are enjoyed by grown-ups and offer challenges which will make them more suitable for older children.
For those who are doing the research prior to investing in PlayStation 3, if games for a young family are important then there is a great selection of games for PlayStation 2 and for Nintendo Wii. Alternatively there are number of electronic toy consoles for younger kids by Vtech, Leapster and others.
